The International Imaginary Landscapes competition is the fruit of collaboration between the EPAC, the Maison d'Ailleurs in Yverdon, Switzerland, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland. The 700 entries, based on maps of imaginary lands, came up with fascinating landscapes as varied as the participants themselves. There were young students, tomorrow's artists, budding strip cartoon artists, painters, photographers, film animators, illustrators, and so on.
The members of the jury of the International Imaginary Landscapes competition are:
- Colomba Amstutz, Artist, Switzerland.
- Monique Rubin, President of the Oberwallis Art Association, Americano-Swiss
- Alban Allegro, Artist, Switzerland
- André Kuenzy, Architect and Performing Artist, Switzerland
- Wei-Chih Tsai, Movie Animation, Taiwan
They met at the EPAC on 6th May 2011 to assess the competition entries. It was a great pleasure for them to view the films and other documents that competitors placed on our server in November 2010.
Out of all these entries, the jury selected 30 works which will be exhibited on printed panels. The animated films will be projected during the travelling exhibition which will be shown, from September 2011 onwards, at the five participating institutions in Switzerland, Europe and Asia. The opening exhibition will be in the Stockalper Castle at Brig, in the context of Label'Art. Animated films from GAFA, TNNUA and ASP will be shown during the exhibition.
The jury wishes to thank the universities and their students who have participated in the International Imaginary Landscapes competition.
These are the artists whose work will be exhibited at the Stockalper Castle at Brig, official opening on 10 September 2011 at 6 p.m. open Wednesday to Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. from 10 September to 15 October 2011.
